We represent and give legal advice to clients in civil (non-criminal)
matters which are of special importance to low income individuals and
families. Our primary areas of specialization are:
- Domestic Relations:
This includes matters such as child custody,
child support, spousal support and divorce. Often these problems can be
resolved through negotiation. If the matter cannot be resolved without
litigation, we can represent you in court.
- Housing Preservation:
This includes matters such as
landlord-tenant disputes, mortgage foreclosures, access to public or
subsidized housing and homelessness.
-
Income Security:
This includes matters such as unemployment compensation, welfare benefits,
consumer bankruptcy and social security benefits.
-
Consumer Protection:
This includes matters which involve deception or fraud directed at consumers.
-
Civil Rights and Civil Liberties:
This includes matters which involve discrimination for any reason prohibited by
law and violation of constitutionally protected rights of free speech.
-
Immigration:
This includes assistance in securing immigration benefits to which you may be
entitled under law and representation in certain deportation proceedings.
You should get in touch with us even if your legal problem does not fit into
any of the above categories. If we cannot help you directly, we may be able to
refer you to the appropriate lawyer or legal services agency.
